  • That patients with heart disease, whose health is stable, can fast the month of Ramadan, with monitoring, without expecting any major adverse cardiac events.


  • Those with unstable heart disease are advised to refrain from fasting.


  • The incidence of myocardial infarction or heart attack did not increase during Ramadan.


  • The rate of people with heart failure who need hospitalization is not increasing.


  •  Heart disease medication can be adjusted to once or twice during Ramadan.

In general, heart disease can be prevented by adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle. Although heart disease is the leading cause of death, heart disease is not inevitable, and although many people may not be able to change some of the risk factors; Such as family medical history, gender, or age, indicates that there are many methods and strategies that evidence has shown to help reduce the risk of heart disease significantly, especially during Ramadan. Among the most important of these strategies are the following:


  • Eat healthy foods, and stay away from processed foods, or those that contain hydrogenated and trans fats, as well as rationalizing the consumption of salt and sugar.


  • Control stress, through exercise, meditation and relaxation.


  • Do exercise, and get at least 30 to 60 minutes of activity each day.


  •  Quit smoking and tobacco use.


  •  Get enough sleep.


  • Maintain a healthy weight.
