In protest against the invasion .. the resignation of the German coach for Lokomotiv Moscow

German coach Markus Gisdol, coach of the Russian team Lokomotiv Moscow, announced his resignation on Tuesday, in protest of Russia's military operations in Ukraine.

The Russian club said in a statement that Gisdol  was sacked as coach after spending less than 4 months at Lokomotiv Moscow.

But the German coach told Bild newspaper that his resignation was a gesture of protest against working in a country whose  head of state is responsible for an aggressive war taking place in central Europe.

He added to the German newspaper:  I cannot stand in the training ground in Moscow, train the players and demand professionalism, and a few kilometers away orders are issued that cause great suffering to an entire people.

Gisdol was appointed last October by the team's sporting director, Ralf Rangnick, who then moved to Manchester United.

It is worth noting that Lokomotiv Moscow is owned by the Russian Railways Company, which was imposed by US sanctions last week.
