Abramovich ... afraid and gets rid of everything .. Chelsea for sale at a remarkable price

Hansorg Weiss, one of Switzerland's richest men, revealed, on Wednesday, that he was offered to buy English club Chelsea, amid the pressures faced by the current Russian owner Roman Abramovich in light of his country's invasion of Ukraine and its closeness to President Vladimir Putin.

Weiss, 86, the founder of medical device manufacturer Synthes, told Swiss newspaper Blick that he and three other people were contacted on Tuesday.

Abramovich, 55, announced Saturday that he had handed over the management and care of the club to the club's trustees' charitable foundation.

Abramović is one of Putin's closest advisers and friends. Like all oligarchs, he is afraid. Abramovich is currently trying to sell all his villas in England. He also wants to get rid of Chelsea as soon as possible. Along with three other people, I received an offer on Tuesday to buy Chelsea from Abramovich  Weiss said.

I have to wait four or five days. Abramovich is asking too much at the moment. Chelsea owes him two billion pounds. But Chelsea does not have the money. This means that those who buy Chelsea must compensate Abramovich.

We don't yet know the exact price of the sale. I can very well imagine myself joining Chelsea with partners. First I must look carefully at the circumstances. But what I can tell you now is that I certainly would not do such a thing on my own. If I bought Chelsea, It will be with a coalition of six or seven investors.

Weiss' fortune amounts to about 4.3 billion pounds, according to the British newspaper Daily Mail which indicated that the Russian billionaire is seeking to sell him at a price of 3 billion pounds (about 4 billion dollars).

Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003 in a resounding deal worth about 140 million pounds in 2003, according to  ESBN  that the price currently offered is about 20 times the purchase price in 2003.

Under his leadership, the team turned into one of the strongest clubs in Europe and was able to achieve several championships, most notably the European Champions League in 2012 and 2021.

Abramovich's name is not yet on the growing list of British sanctions targeting Russian banks, companies and business leaders loyal to the Kremlin.

However, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has come under pressure not to include Abramovich given his closeness to Putin.

Johnson was asked in the Polish capital, Warsaw, on Tuesday, why Abramovich was not personally punished by the British government, as many British lawmakers have demanded.

Johnson did not refer to the Russian directly in his answer, but said Britain would  tighten the economic noose around even more on the Russian system.
