Russian Defense: Russian soldiers enter the Ukrainian city of Melitopol


The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Russian military had entered the Ukrainian city of Melitopol, located on the coast of the Sea of ​​Azov, on Friday evening, according to urgent news for Russia today.


 After carrying out the landing operation near the Ukrainian town of Azovskoye on the evening of February 25, the Russian units headed to the city of Melitopol and entered it without meeting any resistance  the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.


 The Ukrainian President, Vladimir Zelensky, accused Europe of not responding adequately to the Russian attack, and of slowing down in sending aid to his country, while calling on Europeans to demonstrate to force their governments to act against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.


The Ukrainian president said Europe can still work to stop Russian aggression, and the Russian attack brings us back to the atmosphere of World War II  sending a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying We must sit together to talk  and another message to his country's army, saying  You are all we have. 


The Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian forces had taken control of the island of Zmeni in the Black Sea after the surrender of 82 Ukrainian soldiers.


The Ukrainian army had announced the arrival of large numbers of Russian armored vehicles to the northern outskirts of the capital, Kiev.


The Ukrainian army said that it was fighting units of Russian armored vehicles in the cities of Demir and Ivankiv, located 45 and 80 km north of Kiev, respectively.
